Space Cowboy (2026)

Chris is an eager-to-impress suburban teenager whose life revolves around soccer, friends, and the quiet ache of wanting to belong. After befriending June, the charming senior and varsity team captain, Chris is pulled into a new world—but when a season-ending injury lands Chris on opiate painkillers, the lines between healing and hiding begin to blur. Even after physically recovering, Chris keeps using—partly to dull the pain, partly to stay connected to June. Hoping to impress him, Chris offers to share his pills, a secret he hides from everyone, including June’s younger sister, Sofia. But one night, June takes it further, giving Chris something stronger. Space Cowboy is a raw, atmospheric coming-of-age story about addiction, masculinity, and the cost of silence. Set in the heart of suburban youth, it explores the blurred lines between admiration and dependence, grief and guilt—and what it truly means to come clean.

In collaboration with 1716 Digital & Gone West Films

Space Cowboy was produced by Gone West Films in collaboration with fellow youth-led production company 1716 Digital. The film was years in the making for lead actor and producer Lorenzo Zottoli, whose personal passion project grew into a shared vision for dozens of other young artists and filmmakers. Together, the two companies brought over forty emerging creatives from across the country to North Carolina, where the entire feature was shot in under a month. With a commitment to honest, emotionally driven storytelling, the team created a raw, grounded coming-of-age film that reflects the voices and energy of a new generation.
Space Cowboy will begin its festival run in 2026.
